- Champion operating excellence and support projects aligned with Pembina’s Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS) and the “Pembina Way” of operating;
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with Operations, Engineering, Construction, and operating‑asset stakeholders as a strategic business partner; and
- Ensure pipeline systems, facilities, and static assets are designed and governed to meet or exceed all applicable regulatory and environmental requirements.
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for pipeline systems and facility equipment, including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, piping, and related assets across the asset lifecycle;
- Provide strategic technical direction through advanced troubleshooting, fitness‑for‑service (FFS) evaluations, and risk‑based engineering assessments, delivering recommendations for repair, replacement, and mitigation to support Operations, Major Projects, Integrity, Engineering, and executive stakeholders;
- Interpret and apply CSA, API, ASME, and regulatory requirements, while representing the organization on industry and code committees (e.g., ASME, API, PIP, CSA) to support standards development and alignment with evolving best practices; and

- Support enterprise understanding of long‑term equipment and pipeline degradation, risk drivers, and lifecycle performance;
- Partner with Integrity Management and Reliability teams to develop and refine inspection programs, reliability models, and lifecycle strategies; and
- Inform long‑range capital and asset renewal planning, including risk‑based replacement programs, major maintenance strategies, and root‑cause analysis of failures and recurring reliability issues.
- Own and steward engineering standards, specifications, and technical governance for facility and pipeline assets, including the review and resolution of variances and deviations;
- Ensure consistent, technically sound engineering practices across the enterprise by leading MOC reviews, risk assessments, design reviews, and technical assurance processes; and
- Maintain alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices, continuously adapting to evolving technologies and technical standards.
- Provide trusted technical consultation to leadership, project teams, field operations, and external stakeholders, representing Pembina in industry, regulatory, and vendor engagements;
- Build enterprise welding engineering capability by mentoring junior and intermediate engineers and supporting knowledge transfer across teams;
- Actively support and contribute to an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace; and
- Promote a culture of technical excellence and sound engineering judgment, driving continuous improvement and proactive risk management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering; graduate degree considered an asset. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA; registration or eligibility in other Canadian and/or U.S. jurisdictions is an asset;
- 15 + years of progressive experience in welding and materials engineering supporting pipeline and facility equipment within pipeline, midstream, petrochemical, or refining environments;
- Deep expertise in industry codes and standards (CSA, ASME, API), including complex interpretation and application, with recognized authority in welding and materials engineering, fitness‑for‑service, failure analysis, material degradation, and pipeline integrity;
- Advanced proficiency in NDE methods, including selection, application, and interpretation, with strong practical knowledge of line pipe welding, hot tapping, and integrity practices;
- Proven enterprise‑level experience in asset lifecycle management, engineering governance, and technical advisory roles, with strong analytical, problem‑solving, and risk‑based decision‑making capabilities;
- Highly effective communicator and influencer, able to lead crossfunctional discussions, manage competing priorities, and rapidly adapt to new technologies, tools, and technical requirements;
- Applies strong learning agility by integrating new information, diverse perspectives, and feedback to continuously improve technical judgments and outcomes; and
- Occasional travel may be required.
