An established Canadian engineering consultancy is seeking an Intermediate to Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join its growing team in Calgary, Alberta. This organization provides geotechnical, environmental, and construction materials engineering and testing services across multiple industries. Their multidisciplinary expertise supports projects involving transportation, buildings, municipal infrastructure, land development, water resources, industrial development, mining, oil and gas, marine environments, and more. Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and support across various projects, including reviewing calculations, analyses, and performing technical evaluations as needed.
- Offer guidance in preparing cost estimates, tenders, technical documentation, client and progress reports, project schedules, and resource planning while ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
- Assist in project scoping and proposal preparation.
- Support and mentor junior staff through coaching and training.
- Participate in business development activities alongside senior leadership.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Participate in field work as required based on project needs.
- Manage multidisciplinary projects and lead project teams.
- Post-secondary degree in Civil or Geological Engineering (Graduate degree preferred).
- Minimum 8 years of relevant geotechnical or geological engineering experience.
- Demonstrated background in geotechnical investigations, analysis, and reporting for foundations, earthworks, slope stability, retaining structures, etc.
- Experience with drilling investigations (auger, sonic, CPT), logging, instrumentation, and coordination.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence; comfortable operating mid- to full-sized pickup trucks.
- Ability to work in diverse environments, including remote and active construction sites.
- Strong English communication skills (written and verbal).
- Eligible for APEGA membership.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication abilities.
- Proficiency using standard computer tools (word processing, spreadsheets).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Criminal Record Check may be required.
- Drug and alcohol testing may be required for access to certain client sites.
- A 3-year driver's abstract and claims experience letter may be requested.
