Job Title: Quality Control InspectorJob DescriptionThe Quality Control Inspector supports feeder installation and fuel channel installation activities by performing rigorous quality inspections both remotely and inside the vault. This role uses a Remote Control Center (RCC) with cameras and headsets to monitor work, communicate with teams inside the vault, and verify that all work complies with applicable codes, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and customer specifications. The inspector documents inspection results, tracks non-conformances, and helps ensure that all work meets nuclear quality standards while contributing to continuous improvement across the project.Responsibilities
  • Perform quality inspections in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and customer specifications for feeder and fuel channel installation work.
  • Conduct inspections from the Remote Control Center (RCC) using cameras and headsets to monitor work and communicate with the team inside the vault.
  • Work inside the vault as required to visually observe boilermakers’ activities and verify that work is performed in accordance with ITPs and quality requirements.
  • Execute Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), follow defined inspection steps, and sign off on activities and record sheets as work is completed.
  • Participate in the preparation and execution of ITPs, providing input and feedback based on inspection findings and field conditions.
  • Perform dimensional inspections to confirm that components and installations meet specified tolerances.
  • Conduct visual welding inspections to assess weld quality and ensure compliance with welding procedures and acceptance criteria.
  • Carry out magnetic particle inspections to detect surface and near-surface discontinuities in welds and materials.
  • Perform liquid penetrant inspections to identify surface-breaking defects in welds and components.
  • Conduct hardness testing as required to verify material properties and confirm compliance with project requirements.
  • Perform positive material identification (PMI) to confirm that installed materials match specified grades and compositions.
  • Review Certified Material Test Reports (CMTRs) and other quality documentation as required to validate material compliance.
  • Perform internal weld monitoring as required to ensure welding processes and parameters remain within specified limits.
  • Complete all associated documentation and forms for each inspection, ensuring records are accurate, thorough, and traceable.
  • Track non-conformance reports (NCRs) and corrective or preventative action requests, following up as needed to support timely resolution.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with field teams, supervisors, and the RCC to coordinate inspections and address quality issues.
  • Support a strong quality culture by identifying potential issues early, escalating concerns appropriately, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Skills
  • Proven experience in quality control or quality inspection within a nuclear or similarly regulated industrial environment.
  • Hands-on experience performing visual inspection, dimensional inspection, and quality inspection of mechanical components and installations.
  • Proficiency in following and executing Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), including documenting results and signing off activities.
  • Experience with visual welding inspection and related weld quality verification activities.
  • Ability to perform or support magnetic particle inspection and liquid penetrant inspection.
  • Ability to review and interpret Certified Material Test Reports (CMTRs) and related quality documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when completing inspection records, forms, and reports.
  • Effective communication skills to coordinate with teams inside the vault and via the Remote Control Center (RCC).
  • Willingness and ability to work both inside the vault and in a control room environment using cameras and headsets.
  • Flexibility to work day or night shifts and to adapt to rotating shift schedules.
  • Security clearance approval at a major nuclear generating station (e.g., Bruce Power or Ontario Power Generation).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • CWB Level 2 or CWB Level 3 welding inspection certification.
  • Previous nuclear quality inspection experience at Bruce Power or Ontario Power Generation.
  • Experience writing Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Feeder or fuel channel inspection experience in a nuclear environment.
  • Experience in quality assurance, including familiarity with non-conformance reporting and corrective/preventative actions.
  • Experience as a welding, mechanical, or electrical inspector in large industrial or nuclear projects.
  • Interest in building a long-term career in the nuclear industry with opportunities to support multiple scopes of work and projects over time.
Work EnvironmentThis role operates in a nuclear project environment supporting feeder and fuel channel installation activities. Inspectors split their time between a Remote Control Center (RCC), where they use cameras and headsets to monitor work and communicate with field teams, and the vault area, where they perform direct visual inspections alongside boilermakers and other trades. The schedule typically consists of 5 days of 10-hour shifts, with optional voluntary weekend work available. Shifts rotate between days and nights, and candidates who are open to both are more likely to be considered, as shift assignments may change as project series are completed and new ones begin. Day shifts generally run from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., while night shifts generally run from 6:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. or 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with a wage premium applied to all night shift hours. Overtime is compensated at a premium rate after 44 hours per week. The work involves adherence to strict nuclear safety and quality procedures, use of specialized inspection tools and testing methods, and collaboration with a well-established quality team that supports multiple nuclear projects and offers opportunities to move into additional scopes of work over time.Experience Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Tiverton, ON.
