- Heavy Equipment Mechanics need to be highly organized and communicate effectively, as they will be expected to maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles and interact with customers daily.
- Repair and maintain Mechanical bolting and drilling equipment in compliance with workplace safety rules and regulations. Responsible for shop cleanliness, safety and compliance.
- Able to perform advanced trouble shooting on equipment in the garage and in the field.
- Create work-orders, find parts and complete parts list in work-orders using all available resources (without any supervision).
- Responsible to respond to all Mechanized bolting and drilling equipment breakdown calls (Radio).
- Perform Daily Inspections and services on the Bolting and Drilling equipment including greasing the drills, making sure there is drill lubrication and is the machine is working as intended.
- Perform weekly equipment inspections and minor repairs on all our Bolting and Drilling equipment (Jumbos, Bolters and Blockholer).
- Perform equipment Pre-PM Audits; Create Work-Orders, accurately fill out required parts list on order sheets (yellow sheet), input estimated repair time and priority.
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on bolters and drilling equipment.
- Perform repairs and rebuilds to spare components for bolters and drilling equipment including feeds and booms.
- Collaborate with Drill doctor to ensure there is an adequate number of spares for drills including accumulators and flushing heads.
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required.
- Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications.
- Responsible to keep mechanical service vehicle clean and well organized. Unit must be maintained in perfect mechanical condition.
- Assist Beat mechanics when requested by Maintenance Supervisor (or delegate).
- Participate/Attend all required product training courses. (Will help with maintaining/troubleshooting the equipment more effectively).
- Return all tools removed from the tool crib during the shift on a daily basis.
- All other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Journey Person trade certification in a relevant trade is required.
- A combination of over 5-6 years of work experience in heavy equipment repair (mining equipment)
- 2-year work experience on mechanized bolters maintenance.
