Job DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?Commercial & Wholesale Credit Risk provides independent risk assessment and adjudication for RBC’s large corporate clients. Through detailed analysis of business and financial risk, GRM provides comprehensive review and approval recommendations for credit requests, approves and monitors borrower risk ratings, and evaluates proposed client strategies.In this role, you will be responsible for adjudicating a portfolio of accounts including clients across the Capital Markets, Corporate Client Group and Commercial Real Estate business lines. The position offers a unique opportunity to develop a broad understanding across multiple real estate markets, asset classes and lending structures. The chosen applicant will be able to manage competing priorities, build strong rapport with business partners and provide risk decisioning that balances client credit needs with RBC’s risk objectives.What will you do?
  • Adjudicate new credit applications and amendment requests within delegated limits and with adherence to RBC procedures
  • Perform comprehensive credit analysis via Risk Assessment Framework (“RAF”) submissions to establish, review, and approve changes to Borrower Risk Ratings (“BRR’s”)
  • Deliver consistent, timely credit decisions with clear communication of rationale
  • Build and maintain close relationships with key internal stakeholders, including front-line credit originators
  • Monitor borrower performance through continuous oversight of financial information, regulatory changes, and real estate market dynamics
  • Participate in enterprise projects to enhance internal risk frameworks and processes
  • Champion efficiency and responsiveness in key risk processes and practices
What do you need to succeed?Must-Haves
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial statements and demonstrated experience in financial analysis
  • Advanced communication skills, including a proven ability to present recommendations and influence decision making
  • Significant experience with Excel, including using Excel as a tool for financial analysis and the ability to navigate a financial model
  • Analytical and curious mindset with the ability to identify key details while filtering out extraneous information
  • Ability to deal with obstacles and ambiguity in an environment that can involve competing priorities and tight timelines
  • Ability to work collaboratively to develop effective solutions/recommendations
  • Previous experience in real estate (financing, valuation, assessment, etc.), corporate lending, credit structuring, and/or finance
  • Ability to work under pressure and resolve conflicts effectively
Nice-to-Haves:
  • Completed, or in process of completing, an MBA and/or post graduate degree, CPA and/or CFA
  • Experience with online research tools (Bloomberg, SNL, Capital IQ, S&P/Moody's/Fitch ratings)
  • Proficiency with bank lending systems
  • Knowledge of financial institution risk policies and governance frameworks
