Grounded in our values - Own It, Team Up, Be Curious, and Service with Care - we're committed to delivering meaningful impact for our community while supporting each other along the way.How you'll own itAs the City's environmental subject matter expert, you'll provide trusted guidance across departments-supporting regulatory compliance, environmental stewardship, and public safety.You will:
- Act as the primary environmental advisor to City departments and projects.
- Interpret environmental data, assess risk, and recommend practical, defensible solutions.
- Advise on environmental incidents and support emergency response as required.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with internal teams, regulators, and external stakeholders.
- Model professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to continuous improvement in all environmental practices.
- Provincial and federal environmental legislation affecting municipalities, utilities, generation, and energy-related operations.
- Environmental permitting, approvals, and regulatory compliance.
- Environmental auditing and compliance programs.
- Lead and coordinate environmental site assessments (ESAs), contaminated sites management, and remediation activities.
- Prepare and oversee environmental regulatory reporting, including NPRI, greenhouse gas reporting, and environmental monitoring.
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the City's Health, Safety and Environment Management System (HSE MS).
- Track environmental performance metrics and help strengthen environmental stewardship across the organization.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in an environmental-related discipline.
- Environmental professional designation in Alberta is an asset.
- Five (5) years of relevant work experience.
- An equivalent combination of management approved education and experience may be considered.
- Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
- This position has been identified as Safety Sensitive and requires the completion of a satisfactory pre-employment drug screen, which includes testing for cannabis use.
