Technician Assistant, Internal MedicineLocation: Lake Country, BCTri Lake Animal Hospital & Referral Centre has a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic Veterinary Assistant with a focused interest in advance medicine cases. We have recently recruited a new Medicine Resident and are looking to reinstate our Internal Medicine service later this year. The successful candidate would primarily support both our new doctor and the dedicated technologist as part of the fulltime IM team.This is not an entry level position, prior experience as a Tech Assistant will be prioritized. Previous experience in an IM department is NOT required but, will be considered an asset.Strong communication skills and ability to work with a dynamic and diverse team (both within your individual department and between departments)Compassion and nurturing attitude when providing care to clients and patientsAbility to remain calm and efficient in stressful situationsPositive outlook and enthusiasm for learningInitiative in carrying out assignments independentlyAssisting the doctor and technician with procedures and patient treatmentsPreparing medications and supplies for clients to take homeHandling and maintaining surgical equipment, including setup, cleaning and sterilizationGeneral hospital care including cleaning kennels, restocking treatment areas, and maintenance of outdoor areasCompensation: $19.00 to $22.00 per hour, variable based on experience.Anticipated Schedule: Internal Medicine features 4 x 10 hour shifts; currently Monday to Thursday.What VCA Canada OffersJoin our team and you will make a huge difference in the lives of pets and their families! The hospital houses a bustling general practice, featuring a healthy case load of exotic patients. We host an expanding specialty department, including: Rehabilitation & Pain Management, Dermatology, Behaviour, an incoming Internal Medicine service (September 2024), and a remote Nutrition offering. We are also actively recruiting for a Surgery service.
