POSITION SUMMARYThe Summer Camp Coordinator reports to the Community Experience Manager and is responsible for the planning, coordination, and overall supervision of the Town of Coaldale’s Elemental Summer Day Camp Program at the SHIFT Community Recreation Centre.This full-time seasonal position (June 22 – August 28) leads the delivery of an 8-week themed camp, including staff supervision, program development, and ensuring a safe, engaging experience for all participants. The coordinator also supports broader community initiatives as required.In addition, this role will provide backup support for customer service and attendant operations at the SHIFT Community Recreation Centre.The position follows a 40-hour work week, scheduled between 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday with the potential opportunity for some evening and weekend overtime hours to support Special Events.JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESProgram Planning & DeliveryDevelop and implement weekly themed camp programming.Plan age-appropriate, inclusive activities and schedules.Organize supplies, equipment, and resources.Evaluate programs and recommend improvements.Staff SupervisionSupervise camp counsellors.Provide leadership, coaching, and ongoing feedback.Foster a positive and team-oriented work environment.Operations & SafetyOversee daily camp operations and program quality.Ensure participant safety and adherence to policies.Respond to and document incidents and concerns.Maintain attendance, reports, and required documentation.Parent & Community RelationsAct as primary contact for parents/guardians.Communicate program updates and address concerns.Support marketing and promotion of camp programs.Administrative SupportComplete administrative and clerical duties.Assist with departmental programs and events as required.Provide backup support for Customer Service and Attendant operations at the SHIFT Community Recreation Centre as required.QUALIFICATIONSExperience working with children/youth and supervising staff.Post-secondary education in Recreation, Education, or related field (preferred).Physical ability to lead and participate in camp activities.Coaching or leadership training and experience are desirable.Preferred candidate will possess excellent time management, organizational and planning skills.Strong presentation, oral and written communication skills.Approachable attitude, excellent interpersonal skills as well as ability to mediate and problem solve.Flexible, resourceful and able to adapt to a changing environment.Ability to identify areas for improvement and take initiative to implement appropriate changes.Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector (required)CPR and First Aid (Level B or C) certifications (required).Valid driver’s license and acceptable driver’s abstract (required)
