
Electrician (Brampton)

- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair problems as they occur on any equipment in the facility.
- Communicate and work in a teamwork environment with other mechanics and electricians.
- Work on projects as assigned by the Maintenance and Engineering departments.
- Setup, maintenance and continuous improvement of our food processing and packaging equipment and comply with all preventive maintenance programs.
- Understand and maintain Packaging and Process Control Systems
- Diagnose and revise software as required within the programmable logic controllers (PLC's)
- Electrical equipment (troubleshooting & repair)
- Electrical equipment installations, modification, and redesign in compliance with regulatory requirements. (NEC, OEC)
- Logically perform troubleshooting techniques on complex machinery including electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Work responsibly to complete work orders and provide support to source and prepare parts for all preventative and reactive work.
- Read and understand technical bulletins, manuals, instructions and blueprints.
- Performs daily, weekly, monthly and annual electrical & mechanical PM’s.
- Participate in all maintenance team meetings.
- Communicate and train production staff on electrical safety as required.
- Participate in production line changeover including but not limited to conveyors, case packers, tray formers and sealing equipment.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping and follow the 5S principles. Practice a "safety first" policy by addressing hazards, defective equipment, wearing personal protective equipment as required, and correct unsafe conditions immediately
- Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Manager, and/or designate.
- Work safely and promote a safe environment.
- Must work strictly in compliance with all Health & Safety, HACCP, and BRC programs and follow all relevant GMP requirements.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Must have an Industrial electrician (442A) or construction electrician (309A) license.
- Experience in a computerized environment and ability to troubleshoot Allen Bradley and Telemecanique, PLC, relay ladder controls, level controls, capacitive and inductive sensors, photo electronics and AC/DC variable drives.
- Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic and power transmissions system
- Aptitude for quick trouble shooting and diagnosis of problems with machinery, systems, and facilities.
- Industrial plant maintenance experience
- Must be willing and able to lift and or move materials.
- Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Highly organized and multitask oriented.
- Experience in a food plant
- 3 – 5 years’ experience as a licensed electrician
- This position requires 30% to 40% physical effort entailing standing, lifting and moving heavy equipment.
- The work environment is wet, damp, dusty, and refrigerated.
- Occasionally working in freezer environment. Warm clothing is required.
- The noise level may exceed 90 decibels. Hearing protection is mandatory.
- The use of safety rubber boots is mandatory.
- All PPE must be used as required for safety.
- There may be occasional travel between plants.
