Position at DNEGThe FX Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of FX Artists and managing the day-to-day production needs. The FX Supervisor will supervise the FX team in the technical and artistic aspects of the visual effects production, ensuring the highest-quality photorealistic results are produced within the time frame given. You will be working closely with the Producer, VFX Supervisor, Head of FX and other department supervisors.Must-HaveA minimum of 8 years experience as an FX TDPrevious leadership experience, preferably in a Supervisor or Lead roleExtensive knowledge of HoudiniProven experience in producing photoreal and magical effects, including elements such as smoke, fire, clouds, water, steam and explosions, plus experience with particle and voxel based renderingAn excellent creative eye for detail, a strong sense of timing and composition, and a thorough understanding of techniques and technologies relating to physical and procedural simulation in computer graphicsFamiliarity with common production and pipeline issues and how to solve themExcellent problem-solving skillsExperience in project management, balancing quality with time constraintsHigh-level feature film experience in live-action VFX FilmsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsExperience in leading and mentoring teams of FX ArtistsExcellent artistic and technical skillsAble to provide artistic and technical solutions to the FX TeamNice to HaveExperience with Solaris and USD based production workflows/pipelinesExperience with using Renderman in a production environmentIntermediate to Expert knowledge of 2D software such as NukeIntermediate to Expert knowledge of Python, VEX, HscriptExperience working across multiple sites and time zonesExperience in live-action FX work preferred * Maya and/or equivalent 3D software knowledgeAbout YouOrganized, proactive and a self-starterA team leader, approachable and personable, with strong motivational qualitiesA team player and a clear communicator, with a keenness for collaborationAdaptable and with a willingness to learn new skills and techniques - including proprietary softwareCalm under pressure and committed to meet production deadlinesA desire to help others grow and achieve their goalsA positive, can-do attitudePlease note that this is a unionized position and will be covered by a collective agreement between DNEG and IATSE, in the coming months. Union dues will be required once the collective agreement is in place.The base salary range for this full-time position is $124,000 to $175,000. DNEG salary ranges are determined by function, department, level and location. An individual's pay within a given range is determined by their transferrable or job-related skills and work experience. Salary ranges are modified from time to time based on external market data collected through our third-party surveys.About Us
