- Ensure that all operations are performed with the utmost regard for the safety and health of all personnel involved.
- Provide an example to field personnel of an acceptable attitude toward their work and assist Superintendent and Foremen in creating a safe, enjoyable, efficient workplace.
- Responsible for project file set up and activity cost coding, preparation and distribution of job packages to facilitate field operations, maintain safety and other project documentation in file.
- Coordinate and schedule construction activities with construction Operations Manager and Project Superintendents to ensure timely completion of projects by preparing a monthly ‘look ahead’ for upcoming projects and assisting Project Superintendents in the preparation of weekly work schedules.
- Monitor sub-contractors for compliance, including review and enforcement of Sub-Contractor Checklist (current utility locates, proper PPE etc.) and report any violations.
- Responsible for supporting, and leading all aspects of the company safety program and regulations. This includes completing formal safety inspections and reports as required.
- Ensure sub-contractor is performing their scope of work to design standards and specifications.
- Maintain up to date utility locates to ensure site is ready for company personnel (ensure Subs have their own).
- Acts as a company representative at all site meetings and as a point of contact for field level questions regarding a project.
- Responsible for collection and confirmation of field quantities for month end progress submissions.
- Collect and record valuable information regarding the execution of a project and issues during construction.
- Responsible for weekly collection of project costing updates.
- Project estimating responsibilities as required including maintaining tendered and negotiated changes.
- Maintain an accurate project budget with regard to Change orders.
- Maintain up to date short term work schedules of the active projects he/she is involved in.
- Complete project close out documentation.
- Review Quality Control data, order re-tests as required.
- Attend weekly site meetings and conduct regular site visits.
- Communicate in a professional manner with owners, consultants, sub-contractors, and all participants in the construction process to maintain a strong relationship.
- Must ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics.
- Must examine situations in light of the principles of the Code of Ethics.
- Other duties as required.
- Minimum 2 year Technical Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology required.
- CET Designation preferred.
- Class 5 Driver’s License is required.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in road construction required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Project Management.
- Reading and understanding construction drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of construction equipment, materials and processes.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (excel, word, etc.).
- Knowledge of or ability to learn estimating software including Heavy Job and Heavy Bid.

- A portion of work is performed in an indoor setting and may include a combination of standing, sitting and walking. Sitting for extended periods of time is required.
- A portion of work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, grease, fumes, odors, oil, asphalt, and toxic and flammable substances.
- A portion of the work requires driving to various job sites, which may include sitting for extended periods of time, maintaining unhindered focus on the road and driving all types of conditions and weather. Must comply with all driving laws and company vehicle use policies.
- Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended.
- Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 25 lbs on a regular basis.
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
