- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements
- Reduce incidents and risk through proactive field presence, inspections, and training
- Support workers and leaders with practical, solution-focused safety guidance
- Strengthen a consistent safety culture across projects and operations
- Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC, provincial OHS legislation, interprovincial requirements, and applicable CSA standards.
- Conduct regular site and project inspections (predominantly field-based with a 80/20 field-to-office ratio to identify hazards and verify adherence to safety standards.
- Support hazard identification, risk assessments, safe work procedures, and job hazard analyses, recommending appropriate engineering, administrative, and PPE controls.
- Participate in pre-job planning, toolbox meetings, and project risk reviews to proactively manage safety risks.
- Deliver safety orientations, toolbox talks, and required training, and ensure worker competency with PPE, tools, and equipment.
- Lead and support investigations into incidents, near misses, and injuries, including reporting, corrective and preventive actions, and return-to-work coordination.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve site-specific health and safety programs for construction, mechanical, and sheet metal operations.
- Monitor subcontractor safety compliance and act as the primary point of contact for site safety concerns.
- Maintain accurate safety records, training documentation, and audit-ready files, and prepare periodic safety performance reports.
- Liaise with regulators, clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to promote a strong culture of safety and accountability.
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Construction Safety, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a field-based HSE role within construction or industrial environments.
- Strong working knowledge of WorkSafeBC and provincial OHS legislation; interprovincial experience considered an asset.
- Experience conducting site inspections, incident investigations, and safety training.
- Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with trades, supervisors, project teams, and leadership.
- CRSP, NCSO, or equivalent safety designation.
- Experience supporting mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, or sheet metal operations.
- Experience working across multiple jurisdictions or supporting cross-border projects.
