As a member of the health care team, the Genetic Counsellor will contribute to the development and coordination of activities that support the Genetics Service at the Children’s Hospital. They will provide genetic assessment and counselling for patients and families, as well as liaising with hospital and community health professionals regarding genetics issuesQualificationsMasters Degree in Genetic CounselingCertified (or eligible for certification) by Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors (CACG) or American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC)Experience working with children and families, and bereavement supportExperience in evaluating and developing resources for clients and professionalsExperience in research and data management.Highly developed computer skills and/or the ability to learn new computer programsHighly motivated, with effective oral and written communication skills, including telephone counselingExcellent organizational, time management and critical thinking skillsDemonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively
