- Modeling of electrolyte and solid-state thermodynamics
- Evaluation of published data from the scientific literature
- Regression of data to support simulation models
- Interfacing with simulation software suppliers if necessary to validate predictions
- Specific prior experience and knowledge of OLI Flowsheet ESP, Aspen Plus, METSIM or other simulation tools used in the field.
- Apply knowledge of engineering principles and practices in all areas of assignments
- Assist others on engineering problems and methods
- Use advanced techniques, precepts and practices of the relevant field of process work
- Contribute to planning and coordinating work
- May supervise others and/or be responsible for training of junior engineers/specialists
- Understand Company’s market targets and strategic direction; monitor industry developments through sources in the company
- Review and understand the Project Execution Plan; coordinate with engineering and other disciplines to ensure Process Activity Plan meshes with remainder of team
- Understand development of schedule logic and effort-hours budgets
- Assist in developing process design data and criteria
- Contribute value awareness concepts to Process design in regard to cost focus
- Review project schedules and assist in development of work plans to support project milestones
- Perform process studies for more complex systems
- Develop Heat and Material Balance (H&MB) for more complex process units
- Check calculations of others; perform calculations for complex systems
- Mentor and train less experience team members
- Development of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams
- Evaluate upset conditions in the process and help define the design envelope
- Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines
- Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines
- Plan and organize own work assignments, as well as carry out tasks from management staff
- Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards
- Adhere to and support Fluor's Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies
- May need to travel to attend to business related matters
- Meet expectations on attendance and punctuality
- Other duties as assigned
- Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and eight (8) years of work-related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in at least one Canadian province
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
- Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
- Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
