- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and front-end developers to deliver data-driven features that enhance the citizen claims experience
- Translate requirements into clean, scalable code using Python, SQL, JavaScript (React) or PySpark
- Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines using Databricks, Version Control through Azure DevOps, Git or Bitbucket and related tools
- Develop microservices and automation tools to support workflow efficiency, data cleansing, and reporting
- Participate in daily standups, sprint planning, and code reviews to ensure high-quality delivery
- Work cross-functionally with legal, compliance, and ops teams to ensure platform security and regulatory compliance
- Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and continuously optimize for reliability, scalability, and speed
- Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Science, Business, or a related field
- Advanced Excel skills required; data modelling skills are an asset
- 2-4 years of experience in data engineering, backend development, or building data-centric products
- Strong in SQL and Python, and have experience with Databricks, Spark, or similar tools
- Ability to design ETL/ELT pipelines and handle large, unstructured datasets with elegance
- Comfortable writing APIs and integrating data into web platforms (bonus: some JavaScript/React skills)
- Care about data accuracy, performance, and building solutions that scale and last
- Enjoy solving ambiguous problems, not afraid to ask difficult questions, and own your work end to end
- Bonus if you've worked with sensitive data (legal, financial, or civic tech) and understand privacy best practices
