- Conduct thorough testing and commissioning of Building Management Systems (BMS) to ensure proper functionality and integration with other building systems.
- Oversee the installation of BMS equipment and components, ensuring compliance with specifications and industry standards.
- Identify and resolve issues that arise during the testing and commissioning phase, providing effective solutions to ensure system performance.
- Prepare, review and maintain detailed documentation of testing procedures, results, and system configurations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Provide training and support to facility personnel on the operation and maintenance of BMS systems.
- Ensure that all testing and commissioning activities comply with local, provincial, and federal regulations, as well as industry's best practices.
- Drive the BMS testing & commissioning phase of the Works and provide leadership and direction on path forward. This includes progress, identifying integration between systems testing, construction activities and operations.
- Develop and implement BMS commissioning and handover sequences, operational readiness strategies, guidance documents, and templates and ensure existing documentation is updated.
- Ensure correct interface documentation is in place and followed during testing and operational activities.
- Monitor and control test hierarchy and defined process on site to support project “Commissioning Work” activities, commissioning milestones.
- Understand testing and operational sequences on site, attend or run commissioning meetings with subcontractors / suppliers to define and implement priorities to deliver project needs.
- Responsible for site safety during testing and commissioning activities, in particular during energization and dynamic testing.
- Coordinate and implement light/corrective maintenance with defined documentation during testing phase.
- Ensure project schedules are followed and communicated/updated so that deliverables are provided in a timely and cost-effective manner to all external and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure that Discipline Leads are applying the principles of validation as outlined in the T&C Plan.
- Ensure that all third-party contractors consistently adhere to the installation and commissioning requirements and V&V processes.
- Utilize previous project knowledge and experience to find solutions to challenges and setbacks as they occur.
- Remain up to date on the recent best practices to ensure that lessons learned across the industry are applied as required.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or related field.
- 10 years of experience working on multiple railway projects with a full understanding of system engineering, requirements, and verification and validation processes in testing and commissioning of BMS or related systems.
- 10 plus years hands on Testing & Commissioning experience with leadership and documentation experience.
- Experience with railway systems or large MEP, automation of industrial processes, Data centres
- Technical knowledge and experience as a BMS certified automation professional (CAP) or equivalent.
- Experience on sequenced energization, staged operational readiness and temporary operations control measures. Interface with operational systems (Brown field), Integration process controls.
- Strong understanding of BMS components, protocols (e.g., BACnet, Modbus), and integration with HVAC, lighting, and security systems
- Familiarity with building codes, safety standards, and industry regulations related to BMS systems
- A strong T&C background is necessary, understand the complexities within a large project and the stages of implementation.
- Experience leading teams and providing functional support to discipline specialists deployed into other parts of a wider organization.
- Experience working with teams and stakeholders in development and delivery of large infrastructure projects.
- Ability to communicate across technical disciplines (engineering, construction, testing & commissioning).
- Demonstrated working knowledge of railway standards and practices.
- Experience/understanding of construction processes and supervision and the handover of large, public infrastructure projects.
