You'll work hands-on in the field, take on challenging welds that keep heavy equipment moving, and be part of a skilled team that values safety, craftsmanship, and problem-solving. With a 7x7 schedule, strong premiums, and the chance to work on some of the largest equipment in the industry, this is a great opportunity for welders who want variety, independence, and steady, rewarding work in Fort McMurray.Reports to: General Supervisor, Field Services
Shift: 7x7- 12h per shift, rotation between days and nights
Allowances: Additional premiums and allowances are associated with this position due to location
Safety Sensitive: Yes- drug & alcohol testing, physical demand fit testing, RCMP criminal record check and submission of 5-year provincial driving record will be required
Travel: up to 25% within Canada and the USA
Relocation: This position does not offer relocationKey Job Responsibilities
  • Weld and repair mining equipment in the field and in the shop when needed
  • Perform all-position welding using GMAW, FCAW, and SMAW with various wire sizes
  • Complete maintenance and repair work at client sites
  • Read and interpret blueprints and follow company quality standards
  • Use oxy/fuel cutting equipment and electric welding machines confidently
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Prioritize safety for yourself and your team
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Journeyperson Welder certification (Red Seal preferred)
  • Dual-ticket in welding and machining is an asset
  • 3-7 years of welding experience
  • Experience repairing mining equipment such as trucks and shovels
  • Line boring/machining experience and the ability to build up worn bores
  • Comfortable working independently in both field and shop environments
  • NDT or CWB experience is an asset
  • Heat-treating experience and familiarity with 3/32 wire is an advantage
  • P&H mechanical experience is an asset
  • Valid Alberta driver's license
  • Ability to access all mine sites without restrictions
