- Creates part numbers based on drawings.
- Updates/Changes BOM in accordance with system (BAAN) requirements after the ECN has been accepted and prior to the effective dates.
- Checks “where-used” and validates every part number to be marked “obsolete”
- Sets part numbers to manual, changes item group, and puts signal code on Obsolete part numbers as per ECN
- Creates cut-to-size (CTS) materials as needed by Purchasing. He/she also verifies dimensions based on drawings/CNC programmers
- Adds newly approved colour into BAAN and attach to generic parts.
- Adjusts/updates BOM, phantom, description, selection, and signal codes as requested by other departments.
- Reviews and understands product configuration through PPG
- Collaborates with the product designers to have a clear understanding of the new product.
- Prepares product mapping including features and options based on PPG
- Prepares product nomenclature for customized finished goods
- Prepares BOM mapping with top kits and constraints
- Creates all part numbers (purchased, manufactured, and generic parts)
- Attaches BOM generic item data and product features to finished good code
- Creates BOM structure and constraint
- Tests all product configurations and combinations
- Participates in training sessions to introduce newly released product
- Helps coordinate the implementation intent of every ECN
- Creates part numbers based on drawings provided by product designer
- Reviews and ensures that all fields in the item master are properly set up
- Provides a list of new parts to Process Engineer for routings and to Designer for ECN documentation
- Identifies the raw materials for hard tooling and shearing operations and update system, calculates the net quantity for coils
- Runs the session to calculate each new manufactured item (manual)
- Updates the low level code for each part number (manual)
- Calculates the net quantity of powder for generic parts (-G) (manual)
- Assigns signal code for every created part number. After ECN is released, manually removes signal code of each part number
- Regenerates all existing sales orders in the system to capture new part numbers or replace obsolete parts as specified in ECNs
- Assists Tekcare personnel in identifying correct parts to replace claims.
- Creates service part numbers (internal)
- Creates BOM for special orders based on PR# (e.g. S123456)
- Checks customized BOMs after customer service has entered the special and service orders
- Randomly checks customized BOMs for wood/glass orders
- Attending daily/weekly Production meetings
- College or University degree in Engineering or equivalent education, training, and work experience
- Working knowledge of general manufacturing practices and processes, engineering information systems, and project management skills
- Basic computer knowledge and skills (Word, Excel, BAAN)
- Working understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001
- Knowledge of relational databases, supported by a programming background, will be considered an asset
- High degree of interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Flexibility to deal with employees at all levels
