The Water and Wastewater instructor will be responsible for overseeing development and delivery of course and lab content for Water Treatment, Water Distribution, Wastewater Treatment, and Wastewater Collection Levels I & II. The instructor will teach courses or portions of courses in the Water & Wastewater Technician certificate in their areas of expertise and coordinate the delivery of remaining courses. The instructor will develop community partner relationships to promote the program and support work experience placements.Job RequirementsIn addition to a minimum of 10 years' industry experience, the successful candidate will have either a Level III or IV Operator in at least two of Water Treatment, Water Distribution, Wastewater Treatment, and Wastewater Collection, or hold a Bachelor or Masters of Science in biology, environmental sciences, environmental management, or related field.Necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:
  • Ability to apply different instructional strategies to meet the needs of and support diverse learners;
  • Knowledge of Northwestern Polytechnic courses and current educational technologies (e.g., videoconferencing, learning management systems);
  • Ability to teach both online and classroom courses;
  • Student-focused;
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and
  • A high level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
