- Serve as trusted advisor and influencer at all levels. Provide unbiased counsel and create an interactive partnership with local leadership and employees.
- Lead the Human Resources department and provide direction on priorities and work balancing.
- Works closely with management and employees to create highly effective work relationships, maintain a positive work environment, drive retention, and positively influence a culture of performance, accountability respect, ethics, and integrity.
- Provides day-to-day guidance to management (e.g. coaching, counselling, career development, disciplinary actions, performance management).
- Coordinates and conducts management evaluations in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, and inclusiveness.
- Create, develop and administer human development and employee engagement programs and initiatives.
- Ensure current knowledge of funding offered for related grants/government programs (i.e. new hire initiatives, training programs, summer student funding initiatives, etc.) and submit applications when applicable.
- Provides guidance and input to local management on organization structure, career pathing, workforce planning and succession planning.
- Drive corporate HR strategy and initiatives to plant level.
- Maintains legal compliance with employment regulations.
- Analyze trends in manufacturing and relevant HR metrics to participate in developing solutions, HR programs and policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related field
- Minimum five years of experience in Human Resources
- CHRL or CPHR Designation is an asset
- In-depth HR generalist background with strong leadership development and sound communication skills.
- Excellent active listening and negotiation skills.
- Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships.
- Strong leadership, project management, analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.
- Strong working knowledge in employment law.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and able to effectively prioritize workload.
- Ability to create accountability and to lead by example.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and navigate various operating systems.
- Provide exemplary customer service to employees while fostering a positive, supportive reputation for Human Resources.
- Ability to process all responsibilities with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
