Senior Debt Relief CounsellorThis is an in office role and the location is 400-505 Consumers Road, Toronto, Ontario M2J 4V8.People who have thrived in this position typically come out of debt consultancy or insolvency roles, inside sales roles in financial services, financial business development or account management.Consolidated Credit Counseling Services of Canada, Inc. is a national non-profit credit counselling organization that educates consumers about personal finance and has helped over 500,000 Canadians tackle their debt.Consolidated Credit’s unbiased debt-counselling service offers alternatives to help people get their debts under control. Alongside consolidating payments, Consolidated Credit’s counsellors focus on education and understanding. Strategies include teaching basic, but vital concepts, such as how to budget, understanding credit, and how to manage money.We inspire and motivate our clients to take action on their debts that will improve their financial situation.Senior Debt Relief Counsellor DescriptionWe are seeking a Senior Debt Relief Counsellor to join our Alternative Solutions Group in our Toronto office.The successful candidate will be part of an effective team built around a client centric delivery model. They participate in the assessment and preparation of files to facilitate alternative solutions to debt relief. The chosen candidate will be provided ample training and coaching to be successful in their role.Preferred Experience
  • Great interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with team members, management and debtors.
  • Experience in banking or lending with a financial institution with a specialization in mortgages.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Be able to communicate effectively and connect with clients and stakeholders.
  • Be able to work flexible hours in accordance with business needs (in office position).
  • Be able to work well with time sensitive work and to be aware of critical deadlines.
  • Previous work experience in insolvencies, credit counseling, or financial sales is an asset but not required.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and in writing.
Responsibilities for our Debt Relief SpecialistA Senior Debt Relief Specialist typically has a range of responsibilities focused on helping clients manage and resolve their debt. Here are some common duties:
  • Client Consultation: Meet with clients, over the phone or in person, to understand their financial situation and debt challenges.
  • Debt Analysis: Analyze clients’ debts and financial status to develop personalized debt relief plans.
  • Plan Implementation: Implement debt relief strategies, such as debt consolidation, settlement, or management plans.
  • Compliance: Ensure all actions comply with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Documentation: Collect, maintain, and obtain detailed records of client interactions, set up agreements, and prepare client file.
  • Client Education: Educate clients on financial management and strategies to avoid future debt issues.
  • Follow-Up: Regularly follow up with clients to monitor progress and adjust plans as needed.
  • These responsibilities require strong analytical, and communication skills, as well as a deep understanding of financial regulations and debt management strategies.
