- Responsible for all export and import activities from / into Canada for our Goodrich Landing Systems (Collins Aerospace) business
- Manage and direct the export and import compliance initiatives across our business and assist with the draft, review, training, and implementation of international trade compliance regulations, policies, procedures, and audit programs, in alignment with Collins/RTX corporate initiatives
- Provide support and guidance on exports and imports, as required (DFATD, ECL, Wassenaar, CGD, ITAR, EAR Military, EAR Dual-Use, and other countries’ equivalent regulations)
- Determine Export Classification and Jurisdiction of items (i.e.: ECCN, USML, ECL, CGP) with support from internal stakeholders (i.e.: Engineering, Procurement)
- Use the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (Canada, the US, others), apply the General Rules of Interpretation (GRI’s), Section and Chapter Notes and Explanatory Notes, to assign HTS classifications
- Interact with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Operations and other functional groups
- Evaluate all government agency requirements applicable to imported /exported products (e.g. FCC, FDA, TSCA, BATF)
- Troubleshoot the clearance of imported goods when necessary
- Coordinate with customs brokers regarding IoR, COO, OGA (‘Other Government Agency’), ADD/CVD, and delivery of imported merchandise
- Audit customs’ entries to ensure the accuracy and completeness of information submitted to CBSA / USCBP and submit post summary corrections, as needed
- Conduct monthly site audits to ensure compliance with governmental regulations
- Conduct periodic customs / exports / imports compliance training
- Develop and implement Global Trade Procedures and Standard Work
- Support Global Trade Investigations Team, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions for customs and / or GT escapes with related reporting requirements
- Maintain and utilize the Business Process Matrix (BPM) tool for the site to identify compliance gaps, prescribe required corrective actions, and oversee their rapid implementation
- Lead / Assist with Site GT Council Meetings and report implementation status to Site Manager and GT leadership
- Provide guidance to the site on trade compliance matters (SME)
- Must be willing to participate in the Aircraft on Ground (AOG) program and other related compliance activities
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 3 years prior experience in Global Trade. In the absence of a degree, 5-7 years of relevant Global Trade experience.
- A Canadian Customs Broker License accreditation (“CSCB”) and/or Certified Customs Specialist designation (“CCS”), and prior hands-on experience in export and import operations.
- In-depth knowledge of government regulations including Canada’s Controlled Goods Program (CGP), International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), CAED reporting and CBSA procedures
- Very strong MS Office skills including SharePoint management
- Must be customer-focused, team oriented and accountable
- Excellent inter-personal and communication skills
- Self-starter who can multi-task and effectively prioritize requirements
- Comfortable interacting with all levels of the business including senior leadership and can work with minimal guidance
- Experience in a multi-national, high-tech business environment, especially aerospace / defense sector
- Additional, hands-on experience in global logistics operations
- Familiarity with Canadian Controlled Goods, ECL, ITAR, EAR, and other countries’ laws and regulations governing customs and international trade
- Hands-on experience with SAP – GTS
