In this role, you will support multiple Cooke projects, ensuring that accounting requirements are met and that the project teams are supported.This position offers the perfect blend of core accounting knowledge and hands-on project experience on a global scale, including system implementations and process improvement initiatives. You’ll have the opportunity to work with international teams and gain insight into how accounting and systems operate across different regions.This role can be based in either our Saint John, NB or Blacks Harbour, NB office.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Representing the accounting team on multiple initiatives, including system rollouts and process improvement efforts.
  • Facilitating working sessions with the accounting team to understand, document, and validate requirements.
  • Understanding and communicating gaps between accounting needs and project scope and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive resolution.
  • Defining and managing detailed functional tasks to meet project deliverables. Ensuring resource requirements are communicated, and issues are escalated and solved in a timely manner.
  • Completing project status updates on a weekly / as required basis.
  • Managing testing phases, and ensuring that any issues are identified, communicated, and resolved.
  • Creating training materials and delivering sessions to new users.
  • Leading go-live activities and contributing to change management.
To be successful in this role you will have:
  • 5–8 years of accounting experience with a solid understanding of financial processes and reporting, ideally including involvement in system implementations and process improvement initiatives.
  • University degree in Business, Finance, or a related field
  • Professional Accounting Designation (CPA or equivalent) preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong process improvement mindset.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Industry experience in manufacturing, aquaculture, or food processing is considered an asset.
  • Ability to travel outside of Canada.
