Our Chalk River location is looking for a Personnel Security Officer (PSO) to conduct security checks and verification processes .What will you be doing !
  • Implementing of security screening as per the SOCA, TBS Standard on Security Screening and the CNSC regulations.
  • Initiating, tracking, reviewing and processing security screening requests for all new and existing personnel via the automated security screening platform in ServiceCNL.
  • Conducting security checks and verification processes in accordance with policies, regulations and standards to support security screening submissions.
  • Updating and maintaining associated security systems utilized for personnel screening.
  • Conducting reviews of the personnel security file utilizing checklists to ensure all security screening requirements are met and retained on the electronic file.
  • Authorizing the granting of the security clearance upon completion of review.
  • Ensuring personnel security files are managed electronically in accordance with policy.
  • Maintaining positive internal and external relationships with personnel, external agencies, contractors, CNSC and Treasury Board Secretariat of Canada.
  • Analyzing security check results that warrant a review from the Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

  • Coordinate and monitor workflows to support security screening processes.
  • Focus on providing customer oriented quality and accurate deliverables.
  • Interact discretely, tactfully and be considerate, yet extract the required personal information.
  • Work independently under minimal supervision and establish own priorities to meet conflicting deadlines.
  • Enforce a questioning attitude to extract the required information prior to implementing security screening requests.
  • Work well with others and promote a positive work environment.
  • Experience:
  • Experience applicable to office administration and business operations is preferred. Knowledge of security screening practices and applicable standards and regulations an asset.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite for creation and maintenance of word documentation and excel spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge of Foxit for creation and editing of PDF documents.
  • Experience with CNL’s business systems: Oracle, ATOM, SEPS, ServiceCNL.
  • Knowledge of Treasury Board Standard on Security Screening. CRL access controls and CNL's Protection of Information Standard.
  • Education:
  • Successful completion of college diploma in related discipline (e.g. Office Administration, Business) with 2-4 years of related experience.
  • Security clearance eligibility required: Level 3 Top Secret which has a minimum requirement of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom . CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions :
  • Extensive data entry into personnel security screening systems.
  • Visual concentration is required for reviewing security screening information, analyzing security check results and review of submissions in the ServiceCNL platform.
  • Sitting for long periods of time.
