
Electrical Engineer - HV Underground and Submarine Cables

- Job Description
- Technical Calculations: Perform technical calculations for HV/EHV cable selection, including sizing, rated power, electromagnetic field (EMF) calculations, sheath-induced voltage calculations, and more.
- Design and Specification of HV Cables: Develop specifications and detailed designs for HV/EHV cable systems, including cable layout specifications, testing protocols, and technical documentation.
- Technical Support: Provide expertise on all aspects of HV cable engineering and design, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as IEC, IEEE, and CIGRE.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure accurate interfaces and attend meetings with clients and subcontractors.
- Testing and Commissioning: Support factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT), perform technical engineering calculations, and participate in commissioning activities at client sites.
- Profile
- Minimum of eight (8) years of direct experience in the design and installation of underground and/or submarine HV/EHV cables
- Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or eligible for registration
- Proficiency in cable design software such as CYMCAP
- Knowledge of applicable industry standards such as IEC, IEEE, and CIGRE
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a results-driven approach
- Team player with excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- Experience working with major and leading global cable equipment manufacturers
- Fluency in written and spoken French
- Proficiency in written and spoken English in a professional context in order to work on projects outside Quebec
- Ability and willingness to travel within North America
