Job SummaryThe client is currently working on the tunnel rehabilitation project and is seeking an MEP Project Manager for a package involving the supply, installation, and commissioning of 37 exhaust fans. The Project Manager will have full responsibility for a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and a superintendent, and will be responsible for ensuring the project is delivered on time and in optimal condition.Responsibilities and tasksManagement – ​​50%
  • Ensure that the project(s) meet the planned schedules, budget, client expectations and are executed to the highest level of quality.
  • Control safety on the construction site and ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Prepare subcontracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements.
  • Prepare and manage the detailed project budget and costs, construction schedules and stages, and monitor project progress.
  • Submit, review, approve, and award all subcontracted work. Coordinate subcontractor activities. Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate daily operations with site superintendents, ensuring quality control.
  • Manage the purchase of construction materials and equipment
  • Ensure that selected subcontractors meet the deliverables
  • Review and approve all invoices from suppliers and subcontractors and weekly timesheets of field workers.
Technical – 25%
  • Provide guidance on construction methodologies, the preparation of construction drawings, and PRIE
  • Prepare technical specifications for construction services, utilities and works.
  • Analyze and provide feedback on reports, design and analysis performed by third parties, including engineering firms, architects and technical consultants.
  • Prepare and direct the execution of the project's environmental management plan, including waste management, contaminant management, water and soil protection, and mitigation of impacts on wildlife and species at risk.
  • Oversee all quality control and assurance programs for civil engineering works, including materials testing programs (aggregates and concrete) and quality assurance programs.
Communication – 25%
  • Represent the company in direct communication with clients, project stakeholders, regulatory bodies, partners and the general public.
  • Maintain effective communication with senior management and the project team, ensuring that relevant project updates are communicated effectively.
  • Prepare various documents such as technical documents, meeting minutes, project progress summaries, and change orders.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the client, consultants, architects, designers, provincial and municipal inspectors, site superintendents and subcontractors.
  • Ensure that site superintendents are up-to-date with project documentation on site, including, but not limited to, legislative requirements.
Required Qualifications and SkillsEducation and Experience
  • BSc/BA in Mechanical, Electrical or Construction Engineering, or equivalent project experience
  • Member of the OIQ, graduate engineer
  • PMP certification with PMI is an asset
  • Over 10 years of experience as a construction project manager, with specific experience in managing large civil construction projects exceeding $25 million.
