Vaughan is your place to grow.Position OverviewThe Audio-Visual (AV) Technician supports the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of audio and video systems for a variety of events, including live events, Council and Committee meetings, and hybrid meetings. This role works closely with internal teams and stakeholders to implement effective technical solutions and ensure high-quality audio-visual experiences. The Technician translates user requirements into practical AV configurations and provides hands-on support across a range of technologies, ensuring smooth and reliable performance of AV systems.Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum of a two (2) year post-secondary diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Audiovisual Technology or suitable equivalent.
  • Minimum of four (4) years' experience setting up and operating audio-visual equipment for live events in corporate, office, or government environments, including at least one (1) year experience performing the duties of an A1 (lead audio technician), including managing live sound mixing and overseeing audio operations during events.
  • Expertise in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting AV equipment.
  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates quick thinking and resourcefulness when diagnosing and resolving technical issues under pressure.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates analytical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of, or demonstrated ability in, the City's core competencies.
  • Ability to work outside normal business hours, as required.
  • A valid Ontario 'G' driver's license, in good standing, with access to a reliable vehicle for corporate use.
  • AV-related certifications (e.g., CTS, Dante, Crestron) are considered an asset.
  • Experience performing the duties of a V1 (video lead) or L1 (lighting lead) is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts, including IP addressing and AV over IP, is an asset.
Working Conditions
  • Most time spent in a standard office environment
  • However, offsite locations as required (construction sites, community centres, general outdoor areas, other City locations).
