Work Model: In OfficeThis posting is for an existing vacancy.Our client in York Region, ON is actively looking for a Director of Finance - Acquisitions & Integrations to join their team.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead accounting system integrations and data conversions from legacy accounting platforms into Sage 300, ensuring data integrity and continuity.
  • Execute financial data migrations and system integrations, supporting accurate reporting and reconciliations.
  • Reconcile trial balances from legacy systems to change-of-control financial statements, managing increasing complexity across multiple acquired legal entities.
  • Support Controllers by executing accounting entries and system bookings throughout the integration lifecycle, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Clearly communicate accounting changes, adjustments, and integration impacts to Controllers and key stakeholders.
  • Support preparation of purchase price accounting (PPA), including identification, valuation, documentation, and reconciliation of acquired assets and liabilities.
  • Coordinate with third-party valuation specialists as required to support PPA and fair value assessments.
  • Collaborate closely with local accounting teams and corporate integration partners, including Legal, Tax, Fleet Management, and Operations.
  • Ensure accurate recording of purchase accounting journal entries at the acquired entity, acquiring entity, and amalgamated entity levels from acquisition through integration.
  • Support post-close purchase price adjustments related to working capital and debt, including dispute resolution and third-party arbitration processes where required.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships across finance and business teams, demonstrating confidence in financial reporting, analysis, and integration execution.
  • Analyze and interpret financial data to form recommendations, communicate insights to stakeholders, and implement accounting or system changes to advance integration goals.
Qualifications
  • CPA designation required; CBV designation considered an asset.
  • 7+ years of experience in acquisition accounting or related consulting and integration-focused project work.
  • Strong working knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) or other applicable Canadian GAAP, with hands-on acquisition accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with accounting systems (Sage 300 an asset) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Proven experience executing accounting system migrations, integrations, and reporting transformations.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data, develop recommendations, and implement system and process improvements.
  • Experience in waste management or environmental services is an asset.
  • Comfortable working in cross-functional and multi-entity environments.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple post-acquisition deadlines.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex accounting matters clearly.
  • Bilingual (English/French) required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently, as required.
