Position Scope:Position ScopeNACG are seeking an experienced Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic (Off-Road) to join our remote mining site team in the Fort McMurray area.This is your opportunity to join one of the safest and largest contracts in the region.For this role, NACG offers a combined gross rate of up to $68.35/hour as well as room for growth!Where You’ll Be Working
  • Site: Suncor Base Plant
  • Schedule: 14 x 14, 12 hour days (paid for 12 hours). Days/Nights.
  • Accommodations: Camp is not provided. $10 Living Out Allowance per hour.
  • Transportation: Bussing is provided from Fort McMurray to site (before and after shifts).
  • Overtime: Provided after 8 hours in a day or 44 hours in a week.

We are proud to work with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 955. Successful candidates will become a part of that union.Responsibilities:What You'll Be Doing
  • Complete repairs on CAT/Komatsu/Hitachi equipment of all sizes.
  • Work closely with peers in both maintenance and operations.
  • Preventative Maintenance and servicing of all equipment.
  • Evaluate equipment performance and inspect to detect faults and malfunctions.
  • Trouble shooting systems – example: hydraulic, electrical & mechanical of all equipment and determine faults and extent of repair.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications.
  • Mobilization of equipment for maintenance and repair.
  • Develop work scopes and schedules for equipment to be repaired.
  • Order required repair parts, complete reports and fill out work orders.
  • Teach and evaluate apprentices and mentor Mechanics.
  • Follow NACG codes of practice and Safe Operating Procedures.
  • Other maintenance duties as assigned.
Qualifications:What Makes You The ONE
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience post Journeyman (Journeyperson) certification on large Haul Trucks/Dozers/Graders and Excavators.
  • Possess excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills and abilities.
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Exhibit professional work behaviors.
  • Committed to continuous learning.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills in daily work interaction
  • A valid Alberta Journeyman (Journeyperson) Equipment Technician (Off Road) Certificate or an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman (Journeyperson) Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic/Technician (Off Road).
  • Experience with Cat SIS is an asset.
  • Previous experience on a Safety Sensitive work site an asset
Summary:What's NextIf you are chosen to move forward in our hiring process for a site-based role, you will be asked to provide the following: * Provide a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and ability to provide a recent Driver’s Abstract
  • Valid CSO or BSO , OHS Alberta Legislation, Silica Awarenees, Field Ergonomics, Wood Buffalo Wildlife, Hydrogen Sulphide Awareness. These can be obtained through Energy Safety Canada.
  • Undergo and successfully pass the following pre-employment testing:
  • Breath Alcohol Test
  • Urine Drug Test
  • Fitness-to-Work Health Assessment
  • Audiometric Testing
  • Vision Screening
  • Criminal Record Check
