We also work with police departments and municipalities to help in keeping Canadians safe.Make a difference!Reports to: Site Supervisor or Client Services ManagerLocation: Masset - Haida GwaiiShift Types and Times: Days, Afternoons and Nights Available - Full-TimeWage: $21.50/hr plus RSPRESPONSIBILITIESIt is the responsibility of the duty entry control commissionaire to ensure that:
  • access / egress to the operations building is limited to authorized personnel;
  • monitoring / reporting of all intrusion, fire and other related internal/external alarms are reported promptly to the proper authorities;
  • in case of a Tsunami / earthquake warning from the Maritime Operations Communications Control, the Detachment Commander is to be notified immediately;
  • emergency callout of all personnel when requested to do so by the Detachment Commander;
  • other assigned duties as directed by the Commissionaire Site Supervisor
OBJECTIVESThe objectives of the entry control commissionaire are to:
  • ensure only authorized personnel are permitted entry to the Operations building;
  • ensure that all internal / external alarm instances are reported to the Detachment Commander. The objective is to minimize loss of life, theft of property and damage to DND equipment;
  • reduce the threat of sabotage to the operations area;
  • minimize the response time of personnel to emergency situations;
  • act as a focal point for incoming calls to the Detachment; and
  • maintain a communications link for on call personnel.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Must be able to obtain a Security Clearance Level II (Secret).
  • Must be minimum 19 years of age.
  • Must be able to work in a range of weather conditions throughout shift.
  • Must be fluent in the English language - written, verbal and reading skills.
  • Must have a positive attitude, and strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Have excellent attention to detail to fulfill duties and responsibilities and incident report writing.
  • Have excellent problem solving skills with an ability to handle emergency situations in a calm manner.
  • Have the ability to work independently and make sound decisions in varying situations.
  • Have a demonstrated interest and experience in serving the public.
