- Analyze project, production, and certification requirements to develop technical solutions for avionics and aircraft electrical systems.
- Lead system integration efforts, including component selection, interface compatibility, and electrical schematic development.
- Define and manage system requirements using DOORS, providing technical guidance and impact assessments throughout the development lifecycle.
- Develop avionics system specifications, architecture, and interfaces with other aircraft systems.
- Prepare and maintain certification and qualification plans, compliance matrices, and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with suppliers for the development, integration, and testing of avionics systems including displays, flight instruments, communication and navigation systems, sensors, vehicle health monitoring, and vehicle management systems.
- Review and approve test plans and reports to ensure compliance with DND, Transport Canada (TC) Part 29, or equivalent standards.
- Conduct and support system-level testing, verification, and validation activities, including SIL testing and aircraft ground/flight testing.
- Prepare test procedures, analyze results, and author qualification reports for both functional and certification testing.
- Perform analyses to support certification, including electrical load, thermal, EMC, HIRF, lightning protection, and safety assessments.
- Support first article installations and troubleshoot integration issues.
- Review and evaluate supplier technical documentation for compliance and quality.
- Collaborate with certification authorities to ensure timely regulatory compliance.
- Participate in internal and customer technical reviews to track progress and ensure system integrity.
- Atleast 8 years of direct experience in avionics system engineering, preferably in certification testing and test planning.
- Experience with DND/Transport Canada (TC) aircraft-level certification (Part 29 or equivalent).
- Strong background in electrical engineering with a focus on avionics.
- Experience with military radio avionics systems is nice to have.
