Accounting & Assurance Manager - Permanent - 17192About the OpportunityOur client, who is a prestigious public accounting firm centrally located in Ottawa, is looking for an Accounting & Assurance Manager to join their growing team.You will have the opportunity to work with privately held corporations and entrepreneurial business owners to help grow their businesses.Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Manage multiple engagements concurrently with effective project management skills
  • Conduct pre-engagement planning with the engagement team and scope, plan and manage assignments for maximum efficiency while maintaining Firm quality assurance standards
  • Complete a detailed review of assurance and non-assurance engagements to ensure they are in accordance with professional and Firm quality assurance standards
  • Apply technical expertise and research in formulating client related recommendations in accordance with professional standards and Firm policies
  • Actively participate in business development activities to recognize and attract new business opportunities, as well as identifying opportunities to provide additional value-added services to existing clients
  • Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with clients
  • Participate on committees in developing and implementing Firm management policies and professional standards
  • Coach staff to their highest potential by developing their skills and competencies through supervision, recognition and encouragement, mentoring and assignment of client files
  • Conduct internal and/or external presentations and training related to area of expertise
  • Participate in interviews to assist in the selection of talented candidates
  • Conduct and/or provide input on performance evaluations
About YouThe successful candidate will have the following:
  • CPA
  • At least three years' experience in public accounting and at least one year in a leadership role
  • Advanced experience in all aspects of compilation, review, and audit engagements and preparation and review of corporate and personal income tax
  • Strong commitment to providing feedback and development opportunities to junior staff
  • Superior organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects to meet deadlines
  • Ability to supervise multiple engagements, maximizing efficiency and staff utilization Experience in client communication, decision making, file documentation, and engagement team leadership
  • Passion and enthusiasm to work in public accounting and a life-long learning environment
