As the Facilities Attendant (Operator 5) reporting to the Recreation Facilities Supervisor, you are responsible for ensuring all components of the recreation facilities are prepared for, cleaned, and safe for the scheduled activity or event. You will ensure facility users and renters are adhering to Town policies and procedures.What You'll do:
  • Follow the facility schedule to prepare recreation facilities (including two Arenas: The Plex in Port Elgin and the Coliseum in Southampton) for activities and events.
  • Complete the set-up and tear-down of facility events in accordance with prescribed procedures and guidelines.
  • Monitor facility when occupied and ensure Town policies and procedures are followed.
  • Open and close the facility in accordance with Town policies and procedures.
  • Clean and perform general maintenance tasks during facility activities and events. Tasks may include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing floors, window cleaning, dusting, wiping down surfaces, cleaning washrooms, dressing rooms and community halls, garbage and recycling, and restocking supplies.
  • Perform outdoor maintenance activities including assisting with garbage collection and grass and weed cutting as needed.
What You Bring To The Role:High School Diploma with a preference for post-secondary training in parks/facility management or related trades/disciplinesValid Class G Driver’s LicenseStandard First Aid & CPR/AED (or willing to obtain) * Smart Serve Certification
  • A minimum of one (1) year of work-related experience
  • Cleaning and/or janitorial experience
  • Customer service experience
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Sound judgement and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers and staff.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with email, Microsoft Office Suite, and work order software.
What we offer you:
  • Hours: 20 hours a week including weekend and afternoon shifts
  • Wage: $22.66 to $25.51 per hour based on qualifications and experience (unionized position)
