Provide the required ultrasound service efficiently and effectively for the public in accordance with departmental policies and procedures
Perform a thorough and accurate ultrasound examination in a caring and professional manner
Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare’s (MAHC) policy
Identify various pathologies and acquire additional images, Doppler and measurements when appropriate
Review images acquired to ensure they are of diagnostic quality prior to submitting for reporting
Provide thorough and accurate documentation of technical impressions for the interpreting physician
Notify the interpreting physician of urgent or high-risk findings
Assist the Radiologist with ultrasound guided special procedures
REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)
Successful completion of a CMRITO approved training program which includes both didactic teaching and supervised clinical experience
Registration with the CMRITO as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (DMS)
Knowledge of musculoskeletal, vascular and special procedures an asset. Training will be provided as required
Note: Registry eligible personnel may be offered a position prior to completion of registry examinations but must provide evidence of successful completion by date of hire.REQUIRED SKILL(S) & EXPERIENCE(S)
Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of ultrasound techniques in both theory and practice
Sound knowledge of equipment and appropriate skills to operate equipment
Professional and effective communication skills when interacting with patients, staff members and physicians
Organizational and prioritization skills to perform required duties effectively and efficiently
