Based in Ottawa, the Director of Development & Public Affairs, reports directly to the COO and is an integral part of the Senior Leadership Team of CPAC. This newly formed role will be the lead on developing and executing key elements of CPAC's new strategic plan. The ideal candidate is bilingual, and passionate about public relations, stakeholder management, fundraising, policy & grant writing.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Public Affairs and Communications
- Create and execute public affairs plans that align with the organization's goals, enhance its reputation, and address potential challenges.
- Develop and implement CPAC's overall corporate communications, promotion and publicity strategy internally and externally, including oversight of creative development of all communications related products, corporate publications and promotional materials.
- Implement strategies to manage and mitigate potential crises that could damage the organization's reputation.
- Manage and oversee CPAC's brand and corporate presence on social media channels
- Monitor and analyze public policy issues, advocating for the organization's interests, and potentially drafting position papers or policy briefs.
- Create comprehensive fundraising plans and strategies to meet organizational goals.
- Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with potential and existing donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations.
- Research grant opportunities, write compelling proposals, and manage grant reporting requirements.
- Draft and manage the marketing, communications and fundraising budgets, ensuring that departmental expenses remain within budget.
- Participate in the formulation and implementation of long-term strategic goals for CPAC.
- Create an environment that recognizes, supports, respects and welcomes diversity of employees.
- Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, non-profit management or related field
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in fundraising, communications, or public affairs
- Knowledge of public policy and government affairs
- Experience in media relations and crisis communication
- Experience writing successful grant applications
- Proven experience in developing and implementing successful fundraising strategies
- Familiarity with fundraising regulations and ethical practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with social media and digital communication
- Experience in research and analysis.
- Demonstrated experience managing budgets
- Is able to communicate effectively (orally and written) in English and French
