With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world’s most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.Role description:Arcadis is seeking a qualified Site Supervisor – Tracks to support the Construction Phase Services (CPS) Lead in delivering engineering services during construction for rail and transit infrastructure projects. The Site Supervisor – Tracks will provide field-based construction observation and technical support to ensure that track-related construction activities are carried out in accordance with Issued For Construction (IFC) drawings, project specifications, applicable codes and standards, and the overall design intent.Working closely with the CPS Lead, Engineer of Record (EOR), contractors, and project stakeholders, the Site Supervisor will monitor track installation activities and verify compliance with design requirements, technical standards, and quality requirements. The role will support effective coordination between the design and construction teams and assist in identifying and addressing potential design or construction issues related to track systems.This role is suited for a technically oriented professional with field experience on rail or transit infrastructure projects involving track installation, track alignment and geometry, rail systems, ballast or slab track construction, special trackwork, and interfaces with civil, signaling, and traction power systems.Role accountabilities:The Site Supervisor – Tracks will perform regular site surveillance and construction observations of track-related works, including track installation, rail placement, fastening systems, ballast or slab track construction, and installation of special trackwork such as turnouts and crossings. The role will verify that contractor activities are carried out in accordance with IFC drawings, project specifications, approved shop drawings, and applicable rail and infrastructure standards.The Site Supervisor will monitor track alignment and geometry during installation and support verification of track tolerances, rail fastening systems, rail stress management, and installation of special track components. The role will also observe track construction interfaces with adjacent systems such as signaling infrastructure, traction power systems, civil structures, and utilities.The Site Supervisor will document field observations in accordance with Construction Phase Services procedures and maintain accurate records of inspections, including hold points and witness points identified in the Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs). Detailed site surveillance reports will be prepared, including written documentation and photographic records of track construction activities and installation progress.The role will include maintaining inspection and surveillance tracking tools to support the CPS team in monitoring construction progress, inspection status, documentation requirements, and outstanding technical actions. The Site Supervisor will identify potential non-conformances, quality concerns, or design-related issues related to track works and communicate these to the CPS Lead, Engineer of Record, and project team.The Site Supervisor will coordinate with contractor representatives to facilitate inspections and site surveillance activities and assist in addressing Requests for Information (RFIs), Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and Field Change Requests related to track works. The role will also support the design team by providing field feedback and assisting in the review of shop drawings, material submittals, and Inspection and Test Plans related to track construction.The Site Supervisor will participate in site coordination meetings, construction progress meetings, and technical discussions related to track systems. The role may also support coordination of track access, work blocks, and track possession activities in accordance with applicable railway safety procedures and operational requirements.Throughout all site activities, the Site Supervisor will promote Arcadis’ commitment to safety, quality, and environmental stewardship.Qualifications & Experience:Candidates shall possess a diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Railway Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, or a related discipline with relevance to rail infrastructure or track systems.The candidate should have a minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of relevant experience in construction inspection, construction observation, or field engineering on rail or transit infrastructure projects. Experience with track installation, rail systems, track alignment and geometry, ballast or slab track systems, special trackwork (turnouts and crossings), and track construction interfaces is considered an asset.Candidates should demonstrate familiarity with applicable rail and infrastructure standards including AREMA, CSA, OPSS, and relevant municipal and provincial requirements. Familiarity with design review processes and Construction Phase Services within a consulting engineering environment is preferred.The candidate should possess a strong technical understanding of rail track components, including rails, sleepers/ties, fastening systems, ballast or slab track construction, special trackwork, rail stress management, and track geometry requirements.Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, along with the ability to produce clear technical documentation and site reports. The role requires the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced project environment while managing multiple priorities and maintaining attention to detail.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, is required, along with experience using project tracking or documentation systems.Registration with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is considered an asset but is not mandatory. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
