- Provide security leadership and guidance across multiple products and programs
- Define target security postures and derive security requirements aligned with customer needs, standards, and internal policies
- Contribute to secure system architectures, operational concepts, and system enhancements
- Develop and maintain security artefacts including:
- Security requirements & specifications
- Threat models and vulnerability assessments
- Test plans, compliance documentation, and customer reports
- Perform threat and risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies
- Review vulnerability and compliance scanning results and prioritize remediation activities
- Support program delivery through security planning, estimation, and budgeting
- Participate in security verification and accreditation activities
- Coach and mentor junior engineers within the security team
- Degree or diploma in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
- CISSP certification (required)
- 5+ years working in systems security, engineering, or information systems environments
- Experience supporting defence or government programs through full delivery lifecycle
- Strong understanding of system accreditation and compliance processes (e.g. CSE ITS guidance such as ITSG‑11/22/33/38)
- Proven ability to work closely with systems engineers and customer stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong leadership, problem‑solving, and execution capabilities
- Experience accrediting classified defence systems and multi‑domain environments
- Familiarity with standards and frameworks such as:
- NIST SP 800‑53 / 800‑160
- ISO/IEC standards
- DISA STIGs, CIS, SANS
- Security Operations Centre (SOC) experience including SIEM, IDS/IPS, or advanced monitoring tools
- Hands‑on experience with:
- Microsoft enterprise environments
- Vulnerability management and continuous monitoring tools
- Virtualization, DLP, and secure networking technologies
- Exposure to satellite systems, secure communications, or telecom environments
- Security certifications such as CCSP or CISM
