- Purchasing goods, materials, components or services in-line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets.
- Ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate any supply issues, which may pose a risk or impact on business delivery targets or customer expectations.
- Research and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs where possible.
- Develop creative and innovative procurement processes
- Develop ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement.
- Negotiate contracts, improved prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.
- Access and evaluate suppliers and undertake performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and manage performance improvement activities.
- Effectively interact cross-functionally primarily with Planning, Quality, Engineering, Production, Finance, Materials and other Departments as required.
- Solid understanding of ERP/MRP and production planning principles
- Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships
- Ensure compliance to company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures.
- Explore alternate sources for goods and materials.
- Prepare purchase orders in line with final negotiations with selected suppliers and in line with organizational targets and requirements.
- Undertake research on and evaluate existing and new suppliers
- Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues
- Excellent communication, analytical and negotiating skills
- Effectively manage multiple competing priorities
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
- Proactive and takes initiative to investigate problems, develop solutions, and achieve results
- Provide leadership in sharing & educating Procurement team and relevant internal users
- Understand financial concepts, impact of cross-border & trans-Canada commercial activities to the company (balance sheet, customs, taxation, operations, etc.)
- Working knowledge of Logistics and transborder shipment requirements
- Working knowledge of the, ITAR and Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB) Offsets
- Diverse background iPurchasing
- 10+ years’ experience in a senior Supply Chain Management role
- University Degree/College Diploma in Business, Operations or Material Management
- APICS or NISCL designation is considered an asset.
- Proven leadership & Coaching skills
- Competency using ERP and PLM software packages
- Understanding of software licensing and software management
