Position: Member Relations & Business Development Representative
Location: Hybrid â Edmonton, Alberta (70% remote, with 30% travel)
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Compensation: $60-65K base + commission/ bonus + car allowanceAbout Our Client:Our client is a mission-driven, not-for-profit trade organization that supports professionals and organizations within the insurance and risk management space in Western Canada. They are committed to delivering value through advocacy, education, and member-focused services. They are currently seeking a Member Relations & Business Development Representative. This is a hybrid/ work-from-home opportunity that is based in Edmonton, with some travel required.The successful candidate will build strong connections with existing members and stakeholders, promote key programs and services, and help drive member growth throughout Alberta and neighboring jurisdictions. This role is ideal for a relationship-driven insurance professional who thrives in client-facing environments and enjoys a mix of strategic outreach, travel, and community engagement.Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with current and prospective members
- Promote the organizationâs offerings, services, and benefits to brokers and other stakeholders
- Identify opportunities for added value through consultation, education, and solution-based discussions
- Support new member growth by identifying and engaging with prospective brokers (approximately 15% of the role)
- Provide high-level guidance on key insurance products and services available through the organization
- Represent the organization at industry meetings, conferences, and member events
- Keep detailed records of interactions, member feedback, and follow-ups using internal systems
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless delivery of member programs and services
- Travel approximately 30% of the time across Alberta and occasionally to the Northwest Territories or Saskatchewan
- Holds one of the following:
- A valid Level 2 General Insurance License in Alberta
- A CAIB or CIP designation (equivalent to Level 2), or
- A Level 1 license with a firm commitment to complete Level 2 within 12 months
- Insurance broker experience is strongly preferred
- 3â5+ years of experience in the insurance industry, ideally in a client-facing or relationship-management role
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to engage senior-level stakeholders
- Proven ability to manage a regional territory independently and professionally
- Strong organizational skills and comfort using CRM or digital tracking tools
- Valid Alberta driverâs license and ability to travel up to 30% of the time
