The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for managing raw materials and WIP in the plant and FG inventories in the plant, 3rd party warehouses as well as St-Maurice rod in their plant. This position is also responsible for supporting the achievement of plant inventory dollar objectives. He/she is responsible for transportation logistics in or out of the plant or 3rd party warehouses in order to meet GCC transportation goals and standards.​Principle Functional ResponsibilitiesAnalyzes, develops and implements, programs, methods, techniques, practices and procedures needed to assure the integrated physical flow of materials and products through the production process. * Develops plans, measures and controls for establishing inventory mix requirements and levels of materials, components and products in all stages of production and distribution.
  • Works with Corporate Supply Chain Management on forecasting, production planning and required schedule changes as needed based on customer demand and business requirements
  • Creates, distributes, and over sees the execution of achievable production schedules and makes changes to the schedule as required.
  • Performs short and long-range capacity planning.
  • Works with maintenance to integrate machine maintenance schedules to insure adequate capacity for plan.
  • Works with CI and Quality Manager, Metallurgical Engineer, and Production Coordinators, to maximize production output and minimize material in WIP and reduce scrap.
  • Takes responsibility for purchasing of raw and remelt materials, the creation and modification of the production schedule and the shipment of products.
  • Takes responsibility of 3rd party warehouses whom warehouse and ship product to our customers.
  • Maintains a heat treatment schedule, when applicable, in order to meet customer requirements
  • Is an active member of the Lapointe Management Team.
  • Takes responsibility of the shipping/receiving team as well as the remelt coordinator.
  • Keeps abreast of other materials processes/procedures companywide in order to implement best practices.
Key Requirements: * A result driven individual with proven experience in logistics and scheduling in a manufacturing environment.
  • Bilingual (French and English)
  • Good written and oral communication skills in both official languages and proven ability to work cross functionally and solve difficult problems
  • Flexibility and willingness to accept change
  • Good attention to details, ability to manage multiple, complex tasks and deal easily with pressure on a day in and day out basis.
  • Critical thinker, with excellent analytical abilities and ability to drive improvement
  • Solid planning, leadership, computer, and administrative skills.
Qualifications * 5 years’ experience in materials and manufacturing management
  • A degree in logistics, materials management, business or related field
  • Proven ability to work in a team setting
  • Strong database background, comfortable with a variety of software systems
  • Metallurgical and HFA knowledge is an asset
