As a key member of the Financial Services team and business partner with operations, the Accounting Technician will provide financial expertise in the day-to-day operations of financial reporting adding value to the company.Your Key ResponsibilitiesPreparing various balance sheet reconciliations related to US and Canada Payroll transactionsPreparing numerous journal entries related to payroll and labor transactionsPreparing reports and files to support analysis and reconciliationPreparing other monthly balance sheet account reconciliations as neededEnsuring key controls over Financial Reporting are metAssisting in the 5-day period end close processAssisting with the review and implementation of business processes improvementsAssisting with testing updates and changes to financial systemMaintaining process documentationVarious duties and projects as assignedYour Capabilities and CredentialsProficiency in Microsoft ExcelEffective communication skills, including written and oral English language competencyStrong organizational skills to manage multiple competing priorities and firm deadlinesAttention to detailProactiveAbility to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environmentEducation and ExperienceAccounting Diploma or Degree and a minimum of one-year experience working in an Accounting department.Experience with payroll transactions would be an asset.Experience with Oracle or other large Enterprise system is preferred.Working towards an Accounting designation is preferred.This description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.Stantec is a place where the best and brightest come to build on each other’s talents, do exciting work, and make an impact on the world around us. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
