Your Opportunity:The Research II, CPSI - Surveillance, is a provincial role of senior analyst that supports the collaborative initiative between Public Health Surveillance and Informatics (PHSI) and Cancer Prevention and Screening Innovation (CPSI). Reporting to the Manager, Population Health Analytics, Surveillance and Reporting, PHSI, the Research II will develop and maintain community cancer profiles and comprehensive community profiles in a lead role and provide advance data management, analytical and reporting functions, and dashboard development support in a key role on the Surveillance & Reporting team. This position is a temporary, up to 1.0 FTE position with benefits. This is a provincial program and location of the successful candidate is negotiable between Calgary and EdmontonDescription:As a Research II, you will be responsible for coordinating research activities which generate and disseminate new knowledge that assists with advancing the understanding of health disciplines and various health and medical concerns. Working with the principal investigator, you will assist with the study design and development of research protocols, determine appropriate data collection methods and measurement procedures, interpret results, develop recommendations and coordinate study approvals. You will also contribute to grant submissions and budgeting, conduct literature reviews and environmental scans and provide day-to-day oversight of research studies/projects.

Required Qualifications:Master's degree in a health or science related field. Registration with applicable professional association or college where required. Additional Required Qualifications:Master's Degree in a health-related area such as epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, computer science. Minimum of 3 years' experience in a population health-related field. Ability to understand epidemiological issues and to communicate effectively with a broad variety of people with different skills and expertise. Strong skills working with datasets, including cancer registry and prevention data, survey data and other large health-related administrative datasets (e.g., DAD, NACRS, Physician billing claims). Strong skills using the appropriate statistical software which may include SAS, R, as well as basic to intermediate programming knowledge in SQL and/or Python. Ability to develop interactive dashboards in web reporting tools such as Tableau and working knowledge to design clear procedures for collecting cleaning, standardizing, and reporting data. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development.
