The Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA) is seeking a self-motivated and detail-oriented individual to provide support as a Director, Liquor Licensing and Inspections within the Liquor Licensing and Inspections Branch.This position is required to work on-site. The position is based in Regina; however, consideration will be given to the successful candidate working from the Saskatoon office.This position is responsible for leading the development and implementation of licensing, compliance, enforcement, and education programs related to the beverage alcohol industry. This includes oversight of all permittees involved in the manufacture, on-table sales, and retail sales of alcohol across Saskatchewan. This role ensures that regulatory practices, policies, legislation, and standards effectively protect the public interest. The position also contributes to shaping the overall provincial regulatory framework. The Liquor Licensing and Inspection Services branch operates out of both Regina and Saskatoon, and travel between locations is required to ensure consistent oversight and operational effectiveness.Core Competencies (Job Family – Directors)

Primary Responsibilities
This position performs such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned including but not limited to the following:Leadership
  • Communicate and model SLGA’s mission, vision, and core values.

  • Support the development and delivery of clear, consistent communications that promote employee engagement and organizational awareness.
Regulatory Oversight
  • Provide overall strategic direction in the development, evaluation, and recommendation of policies and procedures to ensure that liquor regulatory framework effectively promotes public safety, delivers high-quality customer service, and enables businesses to operate responsibly within modern practices and community standards.
  • Provide direction in the interpretation and application of The Alcohol and Gaming Regulation Act, 1997, along with associated regulations, policies, and procedures, to ensure consistent, transparent, and effective regulatory practices.
  • Oversee the administration of commercial, retail store, craft manufacturing, and special occasion permits, ensuring compliance with legislative and policy requirements.
  • Manage liquor inspection services, including monitoring compliance and recommending appropriate sanctions for non-compliant operators.
  • Represent SLGA at Commission hearings, including providing directions to legal counsel on matters such as sanctions, suspensions, and refusals.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for investigations and security assessments related to SLGA operations, ensuring appropriate recommendations and actions are taken.
  • Prepare and manage the operating budget for the branch, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and fiscal accountability.
  • Prepare briefing notes and official correspondence for the Vice President, President, and Minister’s Office.
People Management

Required Technical Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration/commerce, law, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in managerial and leadership positions.
  • Ability to interpret and apply legislation, regulations and policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and develop policies, design strategic and operational approaches for implementation, build consensus on policy and operational changes, and assess legal implications.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively promote and explain SLGA’s mandate, policies, and operations to diverse stakeholders and in public forums.
  • Excellent writing skills to support the preparation of correspondence, briefing notes, policy and program analysis and recommendations.
  • Ability to collaborate with legal and enforcement authorities across various jurisdictions.
  • Ability to foster industry understanding of the benefits of compliance and commitment to the intent of legislation and policies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of issues, trends, and practices within the beverage alcohol industry is considered an asset.
Licensing Requirement
This position requires Gaming Regulator Registration.Travel Requirement
This position may require minimal travel.Working Conditions
Core office hours are 8:00 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. Monday to Friday. The majority of the workday is spent sitting at a desk keyboarding.
