- Shooting, editing, and reporting on a wide range of stories, from breaking news to features.
- Generating and crafting original stories daily, including breaking news.
- Demonstrating strong proficiency in news judgment, writing, shooting, and editing.
- Monitoring other news sources and generating original material for Global News and online platforms.
- Presenting live on a variety of platforms including on-air, webcam and live blogs.
- Driving a considerable amount, including long distances.
- Handling the demands and pressure of multiple, daily online and broadcast deadlines.
- Other duties as required.
- Minimum of 1 year of TV reporting, shooting and editing in a small/medium television market.
- Degree or diploma in Broadcast Journalism or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Working knowledge of how major news organizations employ a wide range of digital platforms and formats.
- Self-starter with a can-do attitude and a proven ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
- Solid news judgment and editorial experience.
- Ability to report live in breaking news situations.
- Willingness to adapt to rapidly changing technology and workflows, as well as learn new online skills in a multi-faceted digital news operation.
- Ability to write/produce web, text and manage content through social media.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
