An opportunity currently exists in our Rossland or Kelowna office for an Intermediate Structural Engineer. The ideal candidate will be required to have a good university level understanding of concrete and steel design. The successful candidate will concurrently work on a range of projects of complexity, construction value and at different stages in the procurement cycle.You will draw on your proactive and analytical problem solving skills to deliver structural solutions working under supervision and supporting larger interdisciplinary teams.The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic team player who loves challenges, thrives on hard work and looks forward to sharing in the rewards of corporate and personal success within a team environment.Primary Responsibilities
- Conducts structural inspections for industrial projects and will occasionally be on site in an industrial plant or construction site
- Designs for equipment foundations and support structures
- Confident making technical decisions with limited information
- Estimates and prepares engineering proposals
- Ensures projects are on task, on budget and on schedule
- Approves and stamps own project design and reports, and those of engineers in training for whom you are providing peer review, as appropriate
- Client-facing, able to well-represent the company and the community in presentations and meetings
- Profile
- 5 years experience in structural engineering
- Registered P.Eng or immediately able to register in the province of BC
- Self-motivation and excellent interpersonal and English communication skills (both written and verbal) along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks are essential.
- The successful candidate should also demonstrate a commitment to client service that is second to none.
- Highly organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments.
- A proven passion for your profession and employ results driven practices.
- Able to work occasionally on site in an industrial plant or construction site
- Knowledge of Canadian codes and standards.
- Possesses design experience in heavy industries such as Oil & Gas, Mining, Substation design experience - an asset
- Working knowledge of Canadian codes and standards, as well as knowledgeable of good design practices.
- Proficiency in the use of SAP 2000 or similar.
