Near UVic $30/hour + $40/week gas allowance 20 hrs/week - Mon-Fri, 1:00-5:00 PM On payroll with vacation pay and sick days At its heart, this is a personal care role. My husband is disabled and uses a wheelchair, and your primary purpose is to be ready to support him when he needs it. We have a full-time caregiver from 8 AM-4 PM, so you will never be working alone. When my husband doesn't need direct support, your time is spent keeping the household: cooking, errands, light tidying, and looking after our mother-daughter cat duo. Experience with personal support work or a healthcare background is a real asset. That said, we are willing to train people. What matters is the right disposition: willing to learn and genuinely caring. Responsibilities Personal care for my husband: • Being present and attentive throughout your shift - this is the priority • Assistance with transfers, bathing, and personal hygiene as needed • Working collaboratively with our full-time caregiver Household support - between care tasks: • Grocery shopping and errands - a regular part of the role • Meal prep and cooking - an important part of the role (see note) • Light housekeeping - we have a weekly cleaning service, so nothing heavy • Light laundry and general household organisation • Caring for our two cats (litter boxes, feeding if needed) Note: Cooking is a genuine part of this job. Not fancy, but real home cooking from scratch. We're looking for someone with at least basic kitchen confidence who can follow a recipe. I am an experienced cook and happy to share recipes and guide you along the way. Who we're looking for • Valid driver's licence and your own vehicle (essential for this role) • Legally authorized to work in Canada (we are unable to offer sponsorship) • Comfortable and confident with hands-on personal care (transfers, bathing, personal hygiene) • Experience in personal support work, home care, or a healthcare setting is a strong asset • Basic kitchen confidence (able to cook from scratch and follow a recipe) • Reliable, calm, organised, and self-directed • Proactive (you notice what needs doing without being asked) • Comfortable around cats Before you apply - Please Noted This role requires a valid driver's license and your own vehicle.
