Involves creating and maintaining images for personal workstations including (Windows based) Laptops for faculty and support staff; computer labs, library and common study spaces with College installed computer equipmentPlanning, configuring, testing and deploying applications with approved operating systems (includes virtual or client desktop/laptop provisioning) . Involves configuring and deploying virtual applications used in various computer labs within the various Durham College locations, as well as for faculty and staff computers within the organization.The coordination, planning, deployment and ongoing maintenance of software applications require need to continuously automate the software delivery mechanism to improve the software delivery process. This requires coordination and communication with software requestors (academic s), vendors, field services computer technicians and asset management functions.Researching and recommending the next “right fit” technology for faculty, administrative and support staff; computer labs, library and common study spaces with college installed computer equipment is also key to this role.The incumbent also performs benchmarking of performance health of college-installed computer equipment; and administrates server components (e.g. Landesk/Ivanti/SCCM/Ghost/AppsAnywhere) to provide data on tracking of user-related software and hardware and ensure compliance with record keeping data on assets.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:·Support the daily administration of key institutional applications (e.g. Ghost Solution Suite, Deep Freeze, AppsAnywhere, SCCM, Ivanti, antivirus ) and other critical applications as applicable. This includes working with key ITS staff to develop and maintain automated software delivery mechanisms using server based technology, (e.g. LANDesk/Ivanti/Ghost/SCCM/AppsAnywhere) and also utilizing these tools to provide data on assets and their compliance.Plan, configure, build, create, test and maintain administrative and academic images for manual and automated deployment of software and packages to desktop classrooms, computer labs, support staff and faculty, library and common study spaces with college installed computer equipment as required.·Plan, configure, test and deploy applications to desktop classrooms, computer labs, support staff and faculty, library and common study spaces with college installed computer equipment as required.· Coordinate with Manager, Client Technologies to define and recommend for adoption and acquisition updates of standard hardware, changing operating systems and major application suites in respect of life cycle and ‘right fit’ technology.·Lead and be directly involved in projects regarding administrative and academic client server-based applications including requirements gathering, project proposals, timelines, implementation, testing and documentation for enterprise or applicable schools.·Provide consultation services to end users to help plan changes/upgrades and/or new requirements for hardware refreshes, software applications and other technical requirements including providing quotations and estimated lead times.·Participate in research and training on technologies and applications to maintain a personal skill level that matches the evolution of technologies related to performing these duties while ensuring recommendation of current technical solutions·Attend meetings as required to disseminate and collect information on IT requirements and to establish communication channel with vendor(s) and knowledge for user base.·Provide continuous maintenance and benchmarking of performance health of College installed computer equipment; Analyze trends, identify emerging issues and suggest ways to improve the quality of service.·Document technical procedures, notes, user guides for internal or customer use if required. Responsible for entering all call ticket entries with clear and concise data that accurately reflects the actions taken and the resolution applied. Follow up with clients on all open issues to ensure service level objectives are met.·Provide cross-training for other technical staff when required·Adheres to and effectively communicates established process & procedures to internal clients when necessary·May be required to perform additional technically related duties and participate in departmental projects as required from time to time.·Required to work off hours when necessary to address issues, problems, or projects.QUALIFICATIONS:1. A minimum of a 3-year diploma/degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.2. A minimum of 5 years of work experience in IT including 3 years of PC Networking and Application Delivery with automated deployment solutions such as Ghost, Microsoft WSUS/SCCM, Windows/MAC hardware & software experience3. Additional certifications including: A+, AppsAnywhere, SCCM, Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert, Broadcom Ghost are an asst4.
