- The Welding Quality Control Technician II communicates with all levels, from senior shipyard management to shop floor personnel to discuss issues pertaining to quality requirements. The incumbent must have the ability to communicate instructions and influence production employees on welding procedures that meet industry standards and regulatory bodies.
- The incumbent works closely with Babcock Canada to explain interpretations of industry standards on quality requirements, issues and procedures. Tact and subtlety are required when dealing with the customer and stakeholders, however; the Welding Quality Control Technician II will have to use their expertise and influence to meet conformance and maintain the VISSC quality management system.
- Direction and oversight of assigned quality control staff and welding production coordinator in carrying out review and insertion of the following welding related documentation for production issued work packages.

- Applicable weld history records
- Pre heat, interpass controls, and Post Weld Heating records.
- NDE reports
- Responsible for the application of the requirements of welding codes and standards like ASME BPVC sections, CSA W 47.1 / W59, W47.2 / W59.2, AWS, ISO.
- Current valid CWB CSA W178.2 level 2 Welding Inspector certification (or international equivalent).
- Interprovincial Red Seal is preferred.
- Minimum 4 years detailed experience working at a position with responsibility for all welding-related quality control functions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Work with minimum supervision.
- Strong attention to details, problem solving and analytical skills.
- Proficient digital literacy.
- Ability to acquire Industrial Security - NATO Secret designation.
- In Depth Knowledge of quality related procedures and practices.
- Knowledge of Non-destructive testing techniques (MPI, LPI, UT, RT).
- Knowledge of associated manufacturing processes and operations.
- Use and application of inspection quality test plans.
- Knowledge of Health and safety requirements and practices.
