- Lead the development of complex electrical layouts and detailed production drawings for OEM equipment, including power distribution, control panels, enclosures, conduit routing, grounding, and cable management.
- Serve as a technical authority for electrical design execution within EDE projects.
- Ensure designs comply with CEC, NEC, UL, CSA, customer, and internal EDE electrical standards.
- Coordinate closely with mechanical designers and engineers to ensure proper integration, access, serviceability, and clash‑free layouts.
- Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Safety, and electrical installation best practices into all designs.
- Lead and participate in design reviews, DXF overlays, and drawing quality checks prior to release.
- Support and mentor junior electrical designers, providing guidance on standards, methods, and best practices.
- Investigate and resolve manufacturing issues, NCRs, and field feedback related to electrical design.
- Contribute to the development, refinement, and adoption of EDE electrical design standards, templates, and best practices.
- Support engineering change requests (ECRs) and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Interface with Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, and Project Engineering to resolve build issues and improve design robustness.
- Execute electrical designs using PTC Creo and EDE‑approved tools and workflows.
- Apply standardized electrical parts, installation methods, and documentation practices.
- Independently manage the electrical scope on projects with minimal supervision.
- Follow EDE processes for drawing release, document control, and revision management.
- Maintain clear, accurate, and well‑structured documentation to support production and service.
- Collaborate effectively in a multi‑discipline EDE environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, OR a Technical/Associate Degree or Diploma with equivalent experience.
- 5 + years of experience in equipment design, manufacturing engineering, or DFM‑focused roles.
- Senior‑level experience delivering production‑ready OEM equipment designs and drawings.
- Proficiency in PTC Creo 9, with working knowledge of Windchill PLM and SAP.
- Working knowledge of electrical codes and standards (CEC, NEC, UL, CSA).
- Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex technical problems and drive alignment across stakeholders.
- Experience supporting manufacturing builds, issue resolution, and design changes.
- Strong communication skills and ability to clearly document and defend technical decisions.
- Experience in HVAC, data center equipment, enclosures, modular systems, or large‑scale industrial equipment.
- Familiarity with rate‑driven or high‑volume manufacturing environments.
- Exposure to power distribution, control panels, and industrial equipment wiring.
- Professional designation or eligibility is an asset.
