- Providing technical review and development of environmental standards, policies, procedures, and guidance documents.
- Implementation of CNL (Canadian Nuclear Laboratories) Environmental Site Assessment and Remediation Standard (ESAR) and soil management policy for Whiteshell Site.
- Providing input to projects as required to assist with environmental management/operating procedures for soil and groundwater issues.
- Participating in engagement exercises, including presentations to public gatherings and Indigenous groups.
- Assisting in the development and updating of the Whiteshell Site Restoration Plan.
- Providing mentoring and coaching to junior Environmental Remediation Specialists and other ESAR Branch members.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
- Education
- Master's or bachelor’s degree in engineering, Geoscience, or Environmental Science from a university of recognized standing or membership in an engineering or scientific professional organization authorized by statute to establish qualification for membership in that organization.
- Experience
- A minimum of 5-10 years of related experience in the field of Environmental Site Assessment and/or Remediation, augmented with suitable knowledge in the nuclear field.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills are required to interact with team members, internal suppliers, operations representatives, external contractors, project stakeholders, CNL management, and the client organization.
- Demonstrated communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must be results-driven and possess the ability to interpret project needs and implement solutions.
- Awareness of standards, regulatory requirements, best available methodologies in remediation, characterization, and risk assessment as they pertain to environmental investigations and remediation work for both nuclear and non-nuclear impacts.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
- We have a compressed work week: Four (4) days per week, ten (10) hours per day for a forty (40) hour work week, starting at 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- This position is part of the WPEG Union and is governed by the terms and conditions outlined in the WPEG Collective Agreement.
